Summer 2023 Editorial Internship
Are you addicted to reading the AP Stylebook? Do misplaced commas cause you to fly into a world-ending nervous breakdown? If so, The Daily Caller has an outlet for your frustration. With over 20 million readers a month, The Daily Caller, a 24-hour online news publication founded by Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel, is looking for an editorial intern who is interested in a fast-paced, exciting workplace that values motivation and innovation. We’re searching for bright and focused individuals who can work within deadlines and are dedicated to the integrity and growth of the publication.
As an editorial intern at The Daily Caller, you will work closely with some of the most politically savvy editors and reporters in the business, doing background research, transcribing interviews, cleaning up copy, crafting the perfect headline and helping craft social media posts. As an intern, you will also be able to write and publish your own pieces on our website, allowing you to create a portfolio of work.

Social Media Coordinator

Location: Washington DC

The Daily Caller Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for the scheduled posting of Daily Caller content across all social media platforms, as well as the coordination of content between the social media, social video, editorial, and marketing teams and executing strategies to grow the Daily Caller’s social media presence. 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the facebook posting schedule 
  • Monitor social media trends and the editorial schedule to optimize post content and timing
  • Identify trending clips and source video content for the video team
  • Quickly collect and analyze performance data
  • Utilize 3rd party platforms to optimize social media posting and analytics
  • Engage in copywriting and content creation 

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with social media platforms: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Parler, Rumble, Gettr, Truth Social
  • Deep understanding of the political climate and news media
  • News junkie
  • Strong Sense of humor
  • Adept proofreading and grammar skills
  • Professional copywriting skills
  • Video editing and graphic design experience a plus

News Clipper

Do you often find yourself yelling at cable news hosts, mocking them when they let partisanship get control of a segment? Would you like to channel your obsession with news into an outlet that has other people yelling along with you? Then we have the job for you.

The Daily Caller is seeking several video clippers who can capture those viral moments and turn them into articles for mass consumption across a wide range of platforms.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Candidates should have the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-heavy news environment and turn articles around in a timely fashion.

Familiarity with the current political landscape is a plus, as is a good eye for what will spark interest on social media.

Candidates should also possess basic writing skills, a good handle on grammar and a pathological aversion to plagiarism.

Associate Editor and Associate Weekend Editor

The Daily Caller is looking for a full-time associate editor and part-time associate weekend editor to join its dedicated and dynamic team.

The full-time associate editor position is not remote; the candidate must be able to work in the office in Washington, D.C. The part-time associate weekend editor can be remote.

A candidate for these respective roles must be an efficient and competent copy editor with good knowledge of AP style. The candidate should also be capable of editing news stories for accuracy and readability, assuring that the sourcing is legitimate and done properly. He or she must also have excellent attention to detail and a desire to maintain objectivity when editing and pitching news.

Responsibilities for the position include copy editing and publishing incoming news stories, pitching stories to reporters, collaborating with writers and helping with the management of the website.

The candidate must have excellent news judgment, with an eye for what stories are compelling to our readers.

The candidate should also have a strong knowledge of U.S. policy and politics.

The weekend editor, specifically, is responsible for working from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (eastern time) both Saturday and Sunday (holidays included), with the occasional leave allowed for sickness and vacation. These hours are not as rigorous as weekday work.

Reporter

Analysis Writer

Everyone wants to share their takes, but not everyone has the opportunity to do so for a high-traffic, respected news outlet. The Daily Caller is seeking a writer that has an interesting perspective, but is open-minded enough to appreciate other perspectives. The candidate should be a good writer and fast learner. The best candidates will have a proven track record of writing analysis pieces that are thoughtful, detailed, balanced and most importantly, different from all the other analysis you read on the internet.

The role requires someone who can work in a deadline-heavy news environment by collaborating with editors on story ideas and turning well-thought-out articles around in a timely fashion.

Video Production Specialist

The Daily Caller is looking for a Video Production Specialist to join our Documentary team.

This position requires someone with a producorial mind and technical background who is extremely expedient. You would work on a team of two people covering all the aspects of production for a 30-60 minute documentary with a tight deadline of 2 months for the first draft.

Candidates must have a minimum 2 years experience in related field, advanced knowledge of adobe premiere pro and proficiency in after effects is a plus.  Please provide Resume, samples of past work and references.

While we work with tight deadlines, we do allow for a good amount of creative freedom. Essentially we collaborate with the topic and the tone of the documentary.
